In The Media - Smartphone Free Childhood - ITV

On Monday 9 March 2026, our Co-Chair Barbara Mayaire appeared on ITN News London to speak on behalf of the Secondary Phase Council about the Smartphone Free Childhood letter recently shared with Surrey primary schools. The letter encourages families to delay giving children a smartphone for as long as possible, ideally until at least age 14.

It was a great opportunity to highlight the issue on a wider platform and a positive example of how Surrey’s secondary heads can work together to raise awareness of important topics affecting young people.
