A notice from Cammie Evans, Surrey Youth Cabinet Participation Lead, User Voice and Participation Team I’m pleased to share with you the findings from the recent Our Voice Matters Survey, which 435 young people between the age of 7-25 in Surrey completed. The survey was co-produced between Surrey Youth Voice staff and a steering group of young people, helping ensure that the questions reflected what really matters to them. The findings highlight young people’s views on key issues such as health and wellbeing, community and the environment. We plan to use these insights to inform Surrey Youth Voice projects, back up existing and future action cards, shape our priorities and ensure young people’s views are reflected in decision making. We’d love to hear how you and your organisation might use these findings. Two exciting opportunities from the Royal Commonwealth Society for Surrey schools and youth groups: 1. Commonwealth Clean Oceans Campaign Part of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games King’s Baton Relay. Schools are encouraged to host local plastic clean-up events to raise awareness of plastic pollution in oceans and waterways. The Baton may visit Surrey during the England leg of the relay in June or July 2026, but schools can take part regardless of its visit. Educational materials and resources will be provided to support safe and engaging clean-ups. 2. Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey – March 2026 Date: Monday 9 March 2026 A national celebration with His Majesty The King, Royal Family members, and UK/Commonwealth leaders. Schools can register interest for a small group (5 or 10 attendees) to attend this prestigious event. Registration deadline: Monday 1 December 2025 Please note that registration does not guarantee attendance, and schools are responsible for any costs incurred.
